The First Week of School!

The third graders are "flying high" at Highland. Our school year begins with learning rules and procedures. Practicing drills will have us ready and prepared for anything. Class rules are based on Character Counts. Next week students will begin their spelling words. Expect to see the list come home beginning Tuesday. Lists will be available on the website, too. On Friday students took a pretest in math. The first unit stresses counting money, making change, and place value. Numbers will also be compared, ordered and rounded. Take some time to check out our webpage's "Explore Math." There are some fantastic sites for additional practice. We hope you enjoyed the Open House/Ice Cream Social. We stayed very busy preparing for your visit. "Interest Posters" and "Student Art with Name Poetry" were on display.
